This month, as an Island Batik Ambassador, we were given an opportunity to make anything we wanted with our Island Batik Fabrics. This was also another fun challenge and I chose to use the Painted Blossom line to make several items. I used coordinating foundations fabrics to compliment these fabrics.
So what did I make. I chose to make the Travel Trio Set, Madeira Mesh Beach Bag, City Girl Bag, Simply Sunny Eyeglass Case, Walkie Talkie Wristlet, Miss Kitty Wristlet and lastly my new minimalist wallet that will be debuting soon. This pattern will be available next week.

It was fun playing with color and using the 10"x10" layer cake set. The colors are so vibrant and can be used in so many things. I was inspired to sew.
Using a layer cake required me to make smaller items or sew together pieces to use in my patterns. I always think of a pattern as a suggestion or guide. Using a pattern is great and adjusting it or altering is even better to suit your taste. I chose to change the Miss Kitty pattern by not using cork and using all batik fabric. For the City Girl bag, I added a center strip of fabric and used several colors rather than two colors to use the wonderful blues that the Painted blossoms line offered. In the Madeira mesh beach bag, I sewed strips together because I needed fabric wider than 10" to make the bag. Sewing the different fabrics together made each project more colorful and bright.
It was fun to play with the colors of this line and change up a pattern or hack a pattern to customize it a bit. I challenge you to customize your makes and have fun with the fabrics you have in your stash.
