#SewPink - An Awareness Campaign byAnnies.com

Updated: Oct 27

#SewPINK is a campaign that encourages cancer awareness during the month of October. Patterns By Annie (byanni.com) supports and provides a platform for creators to share their stories where they have been affected by cancer with family, friends or themselves . Many people are going through treatment each year who have been diagnosed with cancer. It is a long, difficult and enduring process that can be exhausting and heartbreaking.

I, myself, have not had or been diagnosed with cancer but my sister, brother and friends have. Cancer takes over cells in your body and ravages them. My heart aches to see people in my life and others that I do not know go through the struggle of battling cancer. Some don’t survive as cancer is difficult to treat or cure.

My sister has been cancer free for 5 years now and I am so thankful to know that she is healthier. She went through just over a year of treatments that included radiation and chemotherapy. She needed to have surgery too. She was diagnosed with breast cancer. These are the words no one wants to hear. Her life changed dramatically during this time. When I think of what she has gone through, I am so thankful that she is here today as a survivor. Traditionally, breast cancer awareness is recognized by the color pink but, for my sister, I think of her favorite color, purple. She loves this color and always smiles when she sees it. I decided to make her two bags by Annie. The Grab Some Grub lunch bag and the On the Go 2.0 crossbody bag. Benartex LLC sponsored these beautiful fabrics for the blog hop. I made these two bags because now that she is cancer free, she can work and needs a sassy, colorful and fun lunch bag to carry. I also made the On the Go 2.0 crossbody bag for her because she can travel now. She can enjoy all the things that life has to offer and see new places, cultures and traditions.

Cancer takes a lot from everyone who have been diagnosed with it. It takes your dignity, smiles, laughter, happiness and hope. It is difficult for those going through treatments to think about the future. Everyday is a struggle and each day brings different challenges. I am so grateful she is here today to share her love other and for life itself.

Remember to think about those going through treatments and those lost due to cancer. They are in our hearts. Be aware of preventative care and treatments available. Check out @patternsbyannie to learn more or go to their website https://www.byannie.com
