2023 Is Here! It Is A New Year!New News To Share!

Updated: Feb 1, 2023

2023 is here and I am off to a running start. I am excited to announce that I have been chosen as a 2023 Benartex Ambassador. Twelve ambassadors have been chosen to represent Benartex. We received two boxes of fabrics and supplies.

These boxes included two upcoming lines of fabrics that are new this year, a basics collection line, sewing tools by OESD, the Fat Quarterly news letter, a cute shirt, mug, Bernina umbrella, office supplies and pins. This year I will be sharing four individual projects using their newest lines of fabrics. I received the basics line, Linen-Esque by Painted Sky Studio. It is a beautiful line with soft colors reminiscent of linen. It comes in 44 different colors.

I also received precuts in strips, 10" squares and fat quarters of Frogtastic by Terry Runyan which I will be using in my March project. For my June project, I received yardage of the full line of For The Love Of Coffee by Nicole DeCamp.

Stay tuned because I will be offering giveaways for these two months! You have an opportunity to win precuts of a 10"square pack in March and Fat Quarters in June!

Lastly, we received a copy of their Fat Quarterly Newsletter subscription. It offers tips, new fabric line information and patterns. It also included a preview charm pack of their Pearlized Marble basics line. I will be trying these out for sure. I love bright colors and designs! It is an informative publication and you can sign up for a subscription at Benartex. Click below for more details about the subscription.

As a group, we will be making two projects, one in January and one in July. Our first project challenge was to make a tote using one of Benartex's basic lines collection. I received Linen-Esque and thought it had a modern but classic look and feel. I decided to make a modern streamlined tote. We were challenged to use the Benartex logo somehow in our design. I made a zippered tote. It included a front pocket with a foundation paper pieced logo that I designed on it. I added strips of blue, green and purple on the top, bottom and handles of the bag. I quilted it with straight lines to keep the modern theme and clean lines.

If you haven't tried paper piecing, give it a try. It is fun and easy to do. It is like, "Paint By Number". There is a sequential order when sewing each piece. Paper piecing allows for crisp points in a design. It also makes it easier to put together small pieces.

I enjoyed designing a tote and logo to represent Benartex. It has been a great start to the year and I look forward to working on more projects.

All products have been supplied by Benartex fabrics.

I share sewing projects, ideas and fun videos on Instagram, Youtube and Facebook. Click on the logo to find my posts.

Thanks for following along in my sewing journey. Here is a list of the other ambassadors. They have some great projects coming up too. Check it out.
