The By Annie's #SewPINK Cancer Awareness Blog Hop month is underway. As a creator, I joined in to honor and support those affected by cancer. A whole month of bringing people together to share their stories and create something beautiful.
I chose to make the Travel duffle bag. I chose it because my sister and I love to travel.
Since she was diagnosed with breast cancer 5 years ago, we decided to take trips when we can. It is a way to celebrate her life and challenges that she encountered while fighting breast cancer. She loves the color purple so I chose purple and black fabrics from Benartex the Ann Lauer Line Dragon Fly Wonder to make the bag. Beautiful hardware and zippers from By Annie coordinated with the fabrics wonderfully.
Purple is the new pink in my eyes when I think of the struggles she endured during her treatments fighting breast cancer. She was very strong while going through treatments and having surgery. She had to have a lumpectomy, chemotherapy and radiation. It was a year that was extremely difficult for her. Next month she will not have to take her Anastrozol anymore. This is a triumph that she has met this milestone. This was the last step in her treatment. She has been cancer free for 5 years. I am so thankful that she has recovered and is doing great.
